So Who's Coming To My Barbie This Year?

ok all you lucky people, this is the big one!.

every july, around about the time of my birthday, her ladyship and myself host the barbie to end all barbies.

fun, frolics and fizz are the order of the day, this is the social event, places are more in demand than tickets to watch england play (that's artistic licence btw), even dub in the pub turned up last year.. originally started 10 years ago to get the local pubs regulars together, i usually invite about 40 from the pub, about 15 little & big hooper's, and i am now throwing open an invitation for about 15 - 20 posters from this site to join in the fun.. the event will, weather permitting, take place on sunday july 21. meet at the waverley pub, severn road, weston - super - mare between 12noon and 3pm.

Guess what we are doing that weekend... no, not a district convention - we are moving house to be not a million miles from you. We will have to see how we get on with our furniture removals before we accept your kind invitation - we've got like 3 zillion boxes to sort out and find room for and beds to put together and a multitude of unforeseen problems to deal with like not being able to get the 3 pce suite through the front door etc..... and whats the betting our neighbours either side are JWs who are 'SO pleased to meet you, you must pop in for a cup of tea and a copy of our latest magazines....', that would just be our luck!!!!!

Thank you Blackcat for posting this - and thanks to Stephen Bates, good to see the information finally hitting the British press, we seem to be slightly sheltered from the fallout of Dateline over here, I suspect the average British JW would see it as a purely American problem - 'not in our back yard' sort of thing.

Hopefully this will encourage a bit more interest over here in the press and it will be brought to a wider audience which should make their door to door ministry somewhat more awkward.....

i suppose their excuse is that the shares were donated as gifts and through wills etc, yet surely they should not accept them if they are not appropriate to the teachings of the organisation.

If they stood by their beliefs and teachings these shares should not be owned, not even accepted as gifts. All about money as usual I suppose. As ever. $$$$$$$$$

UK posters - pedophile documentary tonight

this isn't in any way jw related, but will anyone be watching 'the hunt for britains pedophiles' which starts tonight?

from what i have heard about it, it supposed to be extremly shocking and disturbing, as the bbc got to shadow the scotland yard pedophile unit for two years and this documentary is the end result.

it is supposed to be no holds barred and designed to shock, but in an effort to make more people aware of how huge the issue is here in the uk.

I too watched the programme last week and plan to watch the next hideous episode tomorrow night - it really made my blood run cold through my veins but felt it was important to watch it to realise the true extent of paedophilia in this country and how they are caught and controlled - I use the word 'controlled' very loosely as it hardly seems to apply in most of the cases featured so far.

I believe that tomorrow nights programme features a paedophile who is 'very involved in his local church' which should prove interesting, using religion as a front to hide the disgusting practices that these men, and women, are involved in - and I know we are all so aware of this in the JWs. It will be interesting to see how his church deals with the allegations.

As a final point, I am amazed by the strength of the officers who deal with this area of crime, I admire the courage that they show in dealing with such harrowing pictures, videos and voice recordings and find it hard to imagine how they can control their emotions when dealing with paedophiles when the natural reaction of most people would be to beat the hell out of them.

god, he perplexes me.

sometimes i want to give him a clip around the ear, other times i feel sorry for him, maybe he too gets lonely at times, who knows.. anyway, i got to thinking sometimes, being made in the image of god an all that, that the human body ain't half a weird and wonderful machine.

now, what blueprint did god use for the creation and clay mould of our physical form?.

Could do with a larger brain capacity....um, an extra couple of hands, and perhaps a prehensile tail would come in useful. And fur... wouldn't have to get dressed in the morning, hang on - I'm starting to sound as though I want to be a monkey!

i'm a brand newbie to your forum.

i'm a "non believing" husband (12 years) of a returning witness.

i'm a devout "cat lick" and my wife is returning to the kh after 12 years.

First of all I would urge you to keep those poor kids away from the Kingdom Hall, immediately. Be firm and just protect those kids from all that being a JW entails.

How should I/ can I show support to my wife as she does this.

Support from you will be seen as an acceptance of her desire to be a JW and take the children into it as well. Do you really want to support her in this? I suggest you take a firm hand and present real evidence into the falseness of the organisation, the problems that they create and the deception that they promote. Try not to bombard her with too much information at once though, just little things to get her thinking.

thought i'd share some of my experiences with you all!.

sister x, was somewhat of an enigma in the congregation, certainly a 'one-off'!

allegedly she suffered from an 'illness' that incapacitated her at strangely convenient times!

This brought to mind a woman in my old cong. who was 'wheelchair-bound', everyone had the greatest respect and sympathy for her in this disabled state, she had lots of help from everyone and was only too willing to accept it.... then one day I called on her at home unexpectedly and you could have knocked me down with a feather when I saw her standing up at the kitchen sink doing the dishes and then proceeded to walk across the room. A miracle!!!

Then there is the other woman who hobbles along with two sticks and has the same sympathies and fuss made over her... and yes, she has been caught rushing down the garden path to pick in her washing when it starts to rain, and walking her dog briskly along the road (in the dark!!) - not a stick in sight!! Another miracle!!

What hypocrisy and deceit they are showing, pretending to be more vulnerable and disabled than they really are.

I've just read through those pages on the JWZONE, good grief - how do some of these people sleep at night??? It honestly makes my heart ache to see so many people being so misled, you feel like grabbing them by the shoulders and giving them a really good shake to wake them up sometimes.

A few quotes which I found particularly sad....

I watched the movies on JW-Media on this and really have no stomach to watch apostates being placed in an informative light. It would have been counterproductive to watch it, so I did something that was far more productive, make food.

I'm not going to watch it either.
But I bet all the opposers will have the popcorn out and'll be lovin' life tonight.

And it's so nice to know...that they won't be loving it for long!

And as for those attempting to stir discontent-Jehovah will always protect His organization and his People. As before, we will emerge better and stronger in the faith.

How misguided they are...

I just went out in service for about 6 hours today and didn't hear one mention of the dateline program last night! All thru returns and street work nothin either. Many were depressed tho and very sad at the group for service this morning and getting out of the car in the territory felt a little strange since we didn't know how people would react. It kind of felt like we were getting out in front of firing squad. Hay, it couldn't be worse then going door to door while the towers collapsed!

Just makes me so glad I left... there is no way I could stomach these attitudes any more.

Amazing Survived Major Heart Attack

i just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.

on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.

he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

Shortlisted for the career at Burncoose/ Caerhays

for those of you were enquiring how my job interview went yesterday for burncoose nurseries and caerhays castle in cornwall uk, the news is that it went very well.

just received a telephone call notifying me that i've been shortlisted to the 2nd round of interviews, in 2nd place.. i want to work here so much, 3 month trial for starters with a 3 bedroomed cottage thrown in amongst a 30 acre woodland garden, very nice.

what i've always wanted.. so, fingers crossed, if i get it, any ex wits needing some peace and quiet over the summer months ahead, you'll be more than welcome to visit should you require a breather / respite from all your everyday stresses.. take care all of you.. yipppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ..... celtic mark.

Good luck for the job - hope you get it, it really is a very special place Caerhays, used to go walking along the beach down the road. Watch out for the cows they keep there though, great shaggy beasts with huge horns, highland cattle I think. Always used to be milling about in the fields by the castle looking very dangerous.
